Devenish will host the 2018, Point-to-Point & Country Fair at Dowth in conjunction with the Meath Hunt & Tara Harriers. Join us on Sunday October 28th for what promises to be as much fun as you can have with your wellies on…
Great Racing | Country Fair Exhibits | Artisan Food | Free Family-Fun | Shopping Village

Highlights —

With 6 Point-to-Point races over 3 miles and fences on the card plus two exciting pony club races to sign off the day after the last race, experience the excitement on and off the track.
The first race is off at 12.30pm | Gates open from 11am.

Farm Africa Kids Zone

Enjoy free children’s entertainment and good old-school outdoorsy fun with bouncy castles, puppet shows, magic shows, arts and crafts, pumpkin carving, outdoor games, pony rides and face-painting. Kids entertainment is free and admission to The Point-to-Point is free for all children under 12.

The Dowth Dog Show

Why not treat your prize pooch to a day out and give them a chance to win more treats than you can shake a tail at?

Building on last year’s very successful inaugural event, the Dog Show returns with categories including classes for Best Family Pet, Best Toy Dog, Dog most like its Owner, Best Dressed Dog, Best Junior Handler, Waggiest Tail and the overall prize for Best in Show. Entries on the day.

Country Fair Exhibits

This year’s Country Fair exhibitors will include the Maperath Mobile Farm, Newgrange Falconry, The Royal Meath Bee Keepers, The Deer Society, Fly-Tiers as well as Gun Dog and Archery demonstrations.

Shopping & Food Village

Taste your way around the Boyne Valley Flavours Food Tent and enjoy perusing everything from pashminas to paintings in the Shopping Village with brands such as Dubarry, Sports Den, John Fitzgerald Art, Nyles & Rafe, Carol Sheridan Interiors, Siobhan English Photography, Chislers Kids Clothing as well as a wide range of must-see artisan & craft exhibitors.

Style Notes

Ensure you are best turned out with a touch of tweed or wax, so dig out your Barbour jacket & don your wellies or Dubarry boots. Flat caps and corduroys always work well for the boys (the brighter, the braver!) whilst being well-shod in practical footwear is universally key.

Do wrap up to enjoy a day in the crisp Autumnal countryside remembering there's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes... nothing that a quick trip to the shopping village can't remedy in any case!

If in doubt, sling some ancient binoculars around your neck or a race card in your back pocket & you'll look like a pro in no time...

Dining at Dowth: The Picnic Paddock

There’s nothing like the fresh Autumnal air to work up an appetite. Treat your tastebuds to locally produced flavours in the Boyne Valley Flavours Marquee or choose from a range of gourmet food vendors and barista coffee onsite. Indulge with choice of oriental cuisine, gourmet burgers, chicken from the Wing Bar, savoury quiches, succulent hog roasts or artisan sandwiches before indulging in sweet treats and barista prepared coffees.
